Shree Cement Unveils Ambitious Expansion Plans for Cement Capacity in Uttar Pradesh

Shree Cement Ltd. has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its cement production capacity in Uttar Pradesh by nearly 7 million tonnes annually (MTPA) over the next 24 months, with an investment of approximately Rs 2,000 crore.

In a significant move to bolster its production capabilities, Shree Cement Ltd. has initiated ambitious expansion projects in Uttar Pradesh (UP), aiming to increase the state's cement production capacity by almost 7 MTPA. This expansion is part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the state government during the Global Investors’ Summit last year, marking a substantial investment of around Rs 2,000 crore.

The expansion includes the development of two new cement factories, one in Etah and another in Prayagraj. The Etah facility, a 3.5 MTPA plant, is expected to commence operations within the next year, while the Prayagraj plant, also with a capacity of 3.5 MTPA, is slated to begin production in 24 months. Shree Cement has already acquired nearly 17 acres of land in Etah, where construction is underway, and the land acquisition process for the Prayagraj project is set to begin soon.

Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement Ltd., shared the company's vision for capacity expansion in UP at the groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Shree Cement Ltd.’s chairman, HM Bangur. Bangur highlighted the strategic importance of these projects in meeting the growing demand for cement in the region and discussed the broader dynamics of supply and demand in the Indian cement market.
