Holcim, a leading cement manufacturer, has revealed plans to expand its operations in Macuspana, Tabasco, by building a new grinding plant. This strategic move, announced during a remote meeting with Tabasco's Governor Carlos Manuel Merino Campos and the head of the Economic Development Secretariat (Sedec), Federico García Mallitz, represents a significant investment of over 55 million dollars. The expansion is expected to increase the plant's cement production capacity to 1.5 million tons per year.

Jaime Hill Tinoco, the General Director of Holcim Mexico, highlighted that the construction of the new grinding facility would generate 800 direct jobs and increase the plant's workforce to more than 300 direct employees once operational by the beginning of 2025. The new installations will be among the most modern and efficient in the country, featuring high levels of automation and a focus on sustainability.

This expansion will not only enhance Holcim's capacity to supply cement to the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo but also play a crucial role in the decarbonization of the construction industry. Additionally, through its subsidiary Geocycle Mexico, Holcim has launched a new crusher that transforms urban solid waste and biomass debris into a resource for cement manufacturing. The project includes a state-of-the-art crusher with a production capacity of 15 tons per hour, a showroom to demonstrate the complete process, and an expansion of storage space.
