The consumption of cement in the first quarter of the year dropped by 10%, reaching 3.3 million tons, with a significant decline of 23.6% in March. This decrease is attributed to factors such as the calendar effect and heavy rainfall in the previous month.

Specifically, the consumption of cement in the first three months of the year decreased by 366,902 tons compared to the same period the previous year, while March saw a consumption of 1.1 million tons, reflecting a loss of 339,869 tons compared to March 2023. The Ministry of Construction reported that cement production in the first 11 months of 2023 exceeded 81 million tons, a 12% decrease compared to the previous year.

Additionally, exports fell by 25.1% in the first quarter, while imports decreased by 39.6%. These trends indicate a challenging period for the cement industry, influenced by various economic and environmental factors, both domestically and internationally.
